Architect DIRK GIJSEMANS has extensive experience in building, renovating, restoring, decorating and furnishing homes. In addition to his work as an architect, he teaches History of Architecture and Building Construction at the Ghent Highschool.

His work is steeped in a great love for architecture and culture, but at the same time it is clearly contemporary. It connects past, present and future. 
The place, the building and the inhabitants are often the starting point from which he takes us into a multi-layered story. There are often references to architectural movements such as the modernism of the Interbellum and the Midcentury, Brutalism and Critical Regionalism. His firm knowledge of the history of architecture, art, design and furniture helps him to create unique yet balanced environments. For him, the cosiness and viability of his designs remain as important as the conceptual principles.

One of Dirk's strongest assets is his personal and thorough approach. Every project is designed and followed up to the finish by himself with the greatest care. As a result, he continues to maintain absolute control over the process to the smallest detail. He’s on it!
